Trooper Nathaniel Burroughs, NY State Police, 2/14/1997

On Friday, February 14, 1997, at 1115 hrs, 30-year old New York State Trooper Nathaniel Burroughs was assisting motorists at the scene of a snow-related traffic accident on Route 17, in which several people had been injured. Tractor trailer driver William Harrington lost control of his truck on the slippery road surface, and his truck struck Trooper Burroughs, who was outside his radio car. Burroughs was transported to Horton Hospital in Middletown, where he died of his injuries.

Trooper Burroughs was a 10-year veteran of the New York State Police. He left behind a wife, Nancy.
