PO Jason Conklin, Tuxedo Park PD, 8/21/1997
On August 21, 1997, Tuxedo Park Police Officer Jason Conklin, 22, a recent graduate of the Police Academy, was on routine patrol in the Village of Tuxedo Park, when he became involved in a vehicle pursuit. During the course of the pursuit, Police Officer Conklin’s 1997 Ford Expedition flipped over, ejecting Police Officer Conklin, pinning him under the vehicle.
Police Officer Conklin died of his injuries. The speeder was never apprehended.
Police Officer Conklin’s death was the motivating factor in the formation of Lodge 957, and the FOP Lodge number, 957, was Jason’s shield number. Officer Conklin was survived by his parents, Jake and Sandie, and several brothers and sisters. The Conklin family established a memorial scholarship fund in Jason’s name, and that fund has paid the Police Academy tuition for more than 20 current police officers.
